ICOM IC-706mk2g is very popular transceiver among radio amateurs. Its popularity is due to its relatively low price and ability to work on all amateurs bands (HF, 6m, 2m and 70cm bands) This all-mode transceiver provide 100 watts on HF and 6 meters and 50 watts on 2 meters plus 20 watts on 435 MHz. It receives from 30 kHz to 200 MHz and from 400 to 470 MHz. Transmitter is factory limited to transmit on amateurs bands only. This modification allows transmitter to transmit on whole frequency range. It is for IC-706 mk II g - European version.

Procedure:

Place the device on the table with face toward you. Unscrew the screws that hold the cover and gently lift it off. Be careful because the loudspeaker cable is quite short. You can detach the connector of the speaker, or carefully place the cover right next to the transceiver body, like I did it.

The place where diodes which should be removed are marked with red circle:

Carefully (using a magnifying glass) you should remove diodes located at the PCB places number 5, 6 and 9 (from left to right). Only diode on place number 10 should stay in place. (thera\e are 11 places for diodes) See the picture:

Diodes are very small, therefore this procedure should be done with great care:

After you have removed diodes as shown on above pictures, return the cover into its place and screw back all screws. Turn on the transceiver. It will restart automatically and voila! The transmitter is "unloicked" now, and will be able to transmitt on all frequencies from about 0.5 to about 175 MHz continuously. Than from 400 to 470 MHz! Of course, transmitting outside the amateur frequencies are not allowed neither for licenced radio amateurs!

You should be aware of the fact that transmitter is set to transmitt on amateur bands only (band-pass filters), so transmitting outside of those frequencies have to be with limited power only, or you can easily demage the transmitter!
