SM-1 WIRING FOR THE AR-3500

COBRA MICS

General Instructions For Wiring A Microphone To A Radio

1.- Find the TRANSMIT pin by hooking up radio to power in the ON position, then, using a Volt Meter (minus lead to DC ground) find the pin on the mic socket in the radio that has voltage on it, usually 8.2v.

2.- Next, find the GROUND that the shield goes to with an OHM METER, turn OFF the radio and find the pin that shows a short to -DC GROUND, that pin is where the shield goes.

3.- Having done this, the only thing left is the Receive & Audio pins.

4.- Having wired the Shield, Transmit wires to mic plug, insert mic plug into radio, turn radio ON, then touch the remaining wire ( NOT THE AUDIO WIRE ) to the remaining 2 pins, one pin will establish Receive, the other pin will be Audio

Most Galaxy radios do not have a receive function, one pin will make the radio key up when you touch it, the other pin will be Audio, make sure the antenna is connected or you could damage the radio.

COBRA MICS

COBRA 21 MIC

The unit comes with an Electric Condenser 1000 Ohm Mic. Substituting a regular 600 Ohm stock mic produces low and sub standard modulation.

To Correct this problem REMOVE D9, this takes the voltage out of the circuit that normally powers the condenser element.

Then you can use a regular 600 Ohm mic. The changes below must be done to get a little more audio drive.

Jump R50
Change VR6 to 5k
Change R130 to 50k

This mod can be used on any CB that has an Electric Condenser mic, however, the parts to change will have differant designations but the theory is the same.
