GeoTool 2021

MOST ANTENNA MOUNT TYPES ARE IN STOCK!

Please note: Because of recent family situations, I have not been active with the antenna mount business. I plan to be back at work around early to middle July. Please send an email with the type of mount that you want to purchase. When I have time I will work on orders. Life sometimes throws curve balls at us, particularly after we retire.

GeoTool mounts will hold antennas with 3/8"-24, NMO, SO-239, ATAS, 1.5" and 2.0". We also have mounts for Screwdriver Antennas, and grounded mounts for loop antenna masts. Our HV Delrin Insulator supports mobile or fixed antennas for use with base loading Antenna Couplers. They very strong, come in two sizes, and can be custom made to other sizes.

FORD 2020FORD - Ford mounts fit all years of Ford Trucks back to 2000. I also have mounts that fit pre-2000 trucks. In recent years, the bottom bracket is a little tighter fit (actually a good thing because it holds the mount very securely). You may have to push the mount down the last 1/2 inch or so. Tightening the anchor bolt will do the same thing. Measuring the depth of the pocket will still determine the finish height of the mount. Acces to the anchor bolt, and for coax routing, is good if you remove the tailight assembly.

GMC and CHEVY (Including new, reshaped pockets) - These mounts have been the same size for many years. In 2017, they changed the shape of the back of the pocket. But, the same size mount still fits. The top of the 'step' inside the pocket is used for rear support, installation is a little different but they are just as easily installed. Access is good when the tail light assembly is removed. This is well documented in the Chevy/GMC New Pocket Recommendations pdf.
Mount in the photo is just sitting in pocket to show how it fits. Not installed
permanently. Actual shape of the bed liner inside the pocket may vary.

DODGE 1 1.5X2.0 DODGE (Incluing new pocket mods for 2017- 2020) - For many years, Dodge mounts were 1.6"x2.2" at the top. From about 2015± on, Dodge added a plastic bed liner that extends down into the stake pocket. The top opening is 1.5"X2.0", and we have mounts that fit with little or no shimming. Beginning about 2017, Dodge added a different stake pocket with the This 1.5"x2.0" pocket comes on at least one of the recent 2017 - 2020+ models. The 'Classic' model Dodge has the older 1.6"x2.2" top opening, and our m. The older mounts fit that model. The third model pocket is quite different, and looks almost the same from the top. The difference is that the Anchor Bolt mounting hole in the bottom of the pocket is offset. It is clearly not in the center of the bottom of the stake pocket.  Also, you may notice marks in the metal that show through the paint, that are from welding a sheet metal bracket to the stake pocket, exactly in the center. I have a modified version of the 1.5"X2.0" model fits that pocket. Acces is easy if you remove the tailight assembly.

FORD RANGER, THUNDERBOLT AND MAZDA - These mounts have been the same size since they began making these trucks. The same 1.5"X2.0" mounts  are a snug fit, and require little shimming. Access is easy if you remove the tailight assembly.

TRUCKS WITHOUT STAKE POCKETS - Some models of trucks, like the Toyota Tacoma, and Ford, Chevy, and GMC's made between about 2010 and 2020 with short, light duty beds, have thin side walls and there are no stake pockets, and no place to put our mounts.

ISM-1 Mount for Screwdriver Antennas

GeoTool makes the perfect mount for Little Tarheel II, Tarheel Model 75A "Stubby", Hi-Q Hi-Sierra Sidekick, MFJ-1662, and any other Screwdriver Antenna utilizing a 3/8"-24 or SO-239 single point mount system. The strong, clean design of the ISM-1 Screwdriver Antenna Mount is shown above, with a 3/8"-24 mounting bolt. Simply screw your antenna onto the mount, and plug in the control line. Your coax is permanently attached to the adapter inside the mount using the same solderless connectors as our other HF mounts.  This really is the strongest, and best grounded mount for pickup trucks.  It puts the antenna up where the whole length will radiate. Click here for installation instructions and more photos.

Standard 1.5"X3.0"  or 2.0"x4.0" Insulator Features:

·        Excellent RF isolation and low base capacitance (tune up on lower freqs.)

·        Can also be attached to a metal or wood support for fixed location use.

·        The 1.5"x3.0" insulator has one stainless steel 3/8"-24 threaded inserts on each end for long thread life.  3/8"-24 fittings screw into steel, not Delrin.

·           The larger, Heavy Duty Delrin Insulator (2.0"x4.0") has two threaded inserts in each  end, and a 2" long threaded stud installed.

·             Stainless Steel hardware for minimum maintenance. Except NMO fittings (Brass,) and SO-239 fittings (chrome plated brass.)

·             Whip antenna mounts supplied with light duty 3/8"-24 coupling nut with 1/2" flutes (for use with 102" stainless steel CB whips, and Hustler style antennas).

·             Heavy duty coupling nut, with 5/8" flutes as shown in photo on left, above - add $6.00.

·             A 3/32" brass or stainless steel hot lead for Delrin Insulator mounts - add $3.49.

·            Stainless steel 1.5" diameter base support washer for Delrin Insulator (for uses other than GeoTool mounts.

·             3/8" solderless connector included for initial setup and testing. Copper, 1/8" brass or stainless steel wire is recommended for permanent connections.

·              Insulators are modeled after a design presented in QST by AA4PB

·               Works great with Radio Shack stainless steel CB Whip (available for about $20.00.)  Also use with coil loaded antennas, such as Hustler, etc.  Not recommended for fiberglass antennas with thin wire conductors. High currents cause small antenna wire inside the fiberglass to melt.

·             I highly recommend the AA4PB Tuner Controller Interface for use with Icom and Alinco Radios and SGC Antenna Couplers. I've used one for many years, and highly recommend it. It works great. However, I believe they are no longer made. You might find one on Ebay.

NOTICES
September 16, 2018

2010 on, Ford Short (±5.5ft long) Bed

Ford did not include the inner stake pocket brackets on these trucks.  This also affects most of the new 'Sporty' looking F-150's.  These trucks have a solid plastic bed-rail cap, with no removable covers where the stake pocket 'should' be. The cap is installed with plastic or metal clips, which go into square holes all along the top of the bed rail.

Fortunately the long bed (Fleet Style) versions of the Ford trucks has the standard stake pockets that fit our mounts, and they do have brackets installed to hold our mounts.  Be sure to buy a truck with internal brackets to hold our mounts.

November 19, 2019

Chevrolet and GMC with new stake pocket design

Chevrolet and GMC changed their rear stake pockets. The new shape is still capable of holding the standard Chevy/Gmc mount. Shimming is slightly different.  The two sides and front of the mount will be shimmed against the plastic bed liner.  The rear of the mount is shimmed two inches below the top of the mount, against the rear of the stake pocket, below the level of the 'step' inside the pocket.  (The mount will be installed even with the top of the bed rail. The mount shown in the photo is simply dropped into the stake pocket. It is not adjusted to the top of the stake pocket opening.)

                        To Order from GeoTool

1.   E-mail the information listed below to rickc@geotool.com
2.   OR you may FAX your order to (851) 587-0447

Use the mount block dimension chart above see which mount fits your truck.  Be sure to check the stake pockets on your truck for not only size, but for the internal brackets that our mounts attach to.  Some older trucks do not have an internal bracket. The only ones I know of right now are the 2010 and 2011 crew cab Fords with the Short (5.5'±) bed. The long bed version still has internal brackets.  Scroll down to read more about this problem. It may be possible to use our mounts with these trucks, but some modification to the bed rail cap, and additional parts for mounting, will be required.

When you order: Please send the following information I need. Copy the following into your email:

1.  The Make and Model of your truck
2.  The Depth of the stake pocket measured from the top of the bed rail
3.  Top of the stake pocket Opening.
