Having had some success with short 8ft long! mobile aerials for ground-wave contacts on 160m, I was intrigued by the idea of making something a little larger for portable use

I built my first homebrew 160 meter transmitter in 1959 with parts from a discarded TV set. It incorporated a pair of 807's in the final putting out 100 watts

Large coil added for 160m. Note 160m high and low taps at base and 80m high and 80m low selection at top of coil.Thick red wire shorts out coil for operation on 40m - 10m
